Dental Implants

Properly placed and cared for, implants let you confidently eat, smile, laugh, talk, kiss, and enjoy all the other everyday activities associated with a functioning mouth and a full set of teeth.

Dental implants can be used to restore a single missing tooth or secure complete dentures. When used to secure dentures, these can be used to permanently secure the dentures or allow them to be removed.

Understand How an Implant Works

A dental implant is basically an artificial tooth root. Similar to a screw, it is inserted in your jawbone, where it bonds with your natural bone tissue. Once set, it creates a sturdy base on which an artificial tooth - called a crown - can be built.

Before the crown is or denture placed, however, a connector (known as an abutment) is placed on top of the implant, and it is that connector that holds the crown or denture.

Here at Stewart Family Dental, we custom-create each crown to match the color and shape of your natural teeth and to fit your mouth.

Read Five Interesting Facts About Dental Implants
